Air Scense

There’s a reason these are known as the Best Air Fresheners!

Air Scense is different than most conventional air fresheners because the scent isn’t artificially created --- it’s derived from essential oils that actually neutralize odors. Unwanted smells aren’t just masked, they’re eliminated.

Unlike conventional air fresheners, it only takes a couple of shpritzes to re-freshen and neutralize just about any unwanted smell. One can of Air Scense holds up to 3000 sprays!

Air Scense is available in four natural scents: vanilla, lavender, lime and orange. It’s like aromatherapy!

Clean Like a Pro – Window & Glass

Let’s face it: cleaning the windows in your home can be quite a chore – no matter how many or few you have, it takes a lot of time, not to mention all the paper towels & expensive glass cleaning sprays.

We’ve got an economical, time-saving solution that will also make your windows cleaner, clearer & better than ever – naturally! Join Steve as he shows you how to clean your windows like a pro:

Start with the right tools:

  1. Add 1 to 2 ounces of Home Solv Liquid Dish Soap to a bucket of warm water.
  2. Dip the strip washer into the bucket, and remove the excess solution using either a sieve or your hand. Then wet the window.
  3. Starting at the top corner, pull the squeegee down the window- then down the other side.
  4. Wipe off the excess from the blade with the cloth.
  5. Go back around and wipe the edges with your shop towel.

For windows with small panes, use a small strip washer and squeegee For really high windows, use an extension pole that attaches to the strip washer and squeegee. Follow the same steps as above, but wrap a towel over the top of the extension pole to be able to dry the edges of the window.

Tip: Using a strip washer and squeegee is also a time saver for cleaning big mirrors.

Fireplace Glass

There’s nothing like a roaring fire to add warmth and atmosphere to a room – and soot and grime on the glass doors. Here’s a quick, easy way to clean it off: To remove soot:

  1. Spray Home Solv Window & Glass Cleaner on a piece of newspaper
  2. Dip paper into cooled ashes.
  3. Use a circular motion to wipe away the soot.
  4. Once heavy soot has been removed, spray Home Solv Window & Glass Cleaner onto glass, and use a fresh piece of newspaper to wipe off & get the glass sparkling clean.

Car windows

Cleaning the inside of your car windshield is just as important as cleaning the outside. Take care of it easily with a little Home Solv – and watch the dust disappear from your dashboard, too!

Tools: Home Solv Window & Glass Cleaner and a shop towel

Tip: Shop towels are more effective & economical than paper towels. The terry cloth will act as an abrasive and will easily clean off hard-to-remove bugs

Tip: Home Solv Window & Glass Cleaner can also be used to clean the dashboard. When you clean the inside windshield, let the spray fall onto your dashboard. Simply give it a wipe down.

Home Solv Window & Glass Cleaner can also be used as an alternative to all-purpose cleaners. Use it on mirrors, and kitchen and bathroom counters.

Clean Like a Pro: Carpets, Rugs & Floors

Floors are the first thing you see when you walk into a room – and with just a few simple steps, you’ll be able to keep yours clean and fresh. Join Steve, the co-founder of Citra Solv with his wife Melissa over 25 years ago, as he shows you how.

Before starting their own company, Melissa and Steve worked in the commercial cleaning industry and developed natural cleaners and air fresheners that work as well as – if not better than - the less eco-friendly ones. They also learned how to clean just about anything. Let’s start with rugs:

Spot cleaning a rug

Before anything else, check for 2 things:
  1. The type of fibers the carpet is made from: Carpets that are wool, cotton & jute– which include most oriental rugs -- require special treatment. Go to our website to learn more about how to clean these natural fiber rugs and carpets.
  2. Colorfastness – this means the color won’t bleed when you wet it. To check for colorfastness, turn the rug over, and wipe a wet sponge along the edge. If the color doesn’t bleed, you know it’s okay.
Identify the type of stain.

This will determine what product you use to remove it: Citra Solv Concentrate or Home Solv Stain & Odor Remover.

  1. Citra Solv Concentrate: great for grease, oil, tar, greasy stains, etc.
  2. Home Solv Stain & Odor Remover for organic stains: food, beverages, pet stains, etc. Use the stain chart on our website to help you determine which product to use how to use it.

Tip: When cleaning a stain off of a carpet, blot on and blot off. Rubbing will only work the stain into the carpet, and the friction caused by rubbing may break down the fibers.

Using an extraction machine.

  1. Rent a machine from a home improvement or grocery store.
  2. Pre-treat any stains and high traffic areas In a spray bottle, combine 1 oz of Home Solv Laundry Detergent, ½ oz of Citra Solv Concentrate and about 22 oz of water. Shake well. Saturate the stains and let sit at least 20 minutes.
  3. Fill the tank with warm water and add ½ oz of Home Solv Laundry Detergent per gallon of water.
  4. Start at one end of the carpet, spraying and vacuuming at the same time. Always back your way out of the room – so you don’t have to walk over the area you just cleaned. If your carpet is heavily soiled you may want to extract with the solution a second time.
  5. Once you have gone over the entire carpet, dump the solution and fill the tank with fresh water. Spray and vacuum the carpet again. (A fresh water rinse is important because you want to make sure ALL the detergent is out of the carpet or it will re-attract soil.)

Tip: Running the A/C or heat, and overhead fans, will help the carpets to dry faster.

Cleaning Hard Surfaces (tiled floors, etc.)

  1. Start with a dust mop. Dust mopping is faster and more effective than sweeping them. DO NOT LIFT it until you get to the end; lifting up the dust mop will send the dust flying.
  2. Start at one end and work your way down the room, making “S” curves across the room.
  3. Gather everything into a pile in the corner & then vacuum up.
  4. Create a cleaning solution: ½ oz Home Solv Liquid Dish Soap to a bucket of warm water.
  5. (Dish soap solution works great for all types of floors – wood, marble, tile, etc.)
  6. Get a standard wet mop. It is less expensive than disposable mops. With a standard mop, you might only have to throw out an extra bucket of solution (which costs pennies) as opposed to several disposable pads.
  7. Mop in a figure 8 pattern.

Clean Like a Pro: Grills

Cooking on your outdoor grill is a great way to escape the heat of the kitchen – and some food just tastes better when it is cooked on a grill; that is, unless your grill is coated in last year’s burnt-on food and grease!

Join Steve, who co-founded Citra Solv over 25 years ago with his wife Melissa, as he shows you how to give your grill a thorough cleaning at the beginning of the grilling season to get rid of all the leftover grease and pieces of food.

Two recommendations before getting started:
  1. The first thing you want to do is remove the grilling grates, flame plates and even the smoker, if you have one, from the grill. You will need to let these soak in a kitchen or slop sink. Add a couple of ounces of our Home Solv Liquid Dish Soap and enough hot water to cover them. For an even easier cleanup, substitute the liquid dish soap for our Home Solv Automated Dishwasher Detergent.
  2. The dishwasher detergent has enzymes and other cleaning agents that really help to break down the grease. You will want to let the grate soak for about an hour. While these soak, you can start cleaning the rest of the grill.
  3. For the best cooking results, you should make sure that all the holes on the burners are opened up by using a stainless steel scrubber or sponge to knock the debris off. Next, vacuum out the entire inside area of the grill using either a shop-vac or a regular vacuum that has a hose.
If you have a separate grease catcher that can lift out, you will want to remove it. These can be washed by using our regular dish liquid soap, warm water and a sponge. Just rinse with fresh water.
  4. To clean the inner rim of the hood, inside edges and exterior of the grill, you can use an all-purpose cleaner like our Citra Solv Multi Purpose Cleaner. Just spray it on and wipe off with a cloth or paper towel. Or, if you wish, you can once again use a solution of our Liquid Dish soap, warm water and a sponge (with the soap and water you will want to rinse.)
  5. You can use our Citra Solv Concentrated Cleaner Degreaser to get off any heavy build up on the grates, flame plates and inside or outside of grill. Just pour a little concentrate directly on a slightly moist sponge and scrub the area. Two cautions here – be sure that the grill is cold when using concentrate – and be careful to not wipe over any parts of the grill that are plastic or have writing on them. Citra Solv Concentrate can affect some plastics and remove some inks.
  6. Now that the grills, plates and smokers have soaked - they should be a lot easier to clean. Use a stainless steel pad, heavy duty scour pad or a grilling brush to scrub them clean.
  7. To add shine and put on protective coating on the outside of your grill you can use our Home Solv Natural Wood & Furniture Polish. The natural orange oils work great to shine and protect your grill and it is easy to use. Just spray the polish directly on the stainless steel and rub and polish with a paper towel.
  8. During the season –after you are done cooking - it is a good idea to use a little water and the grill brush while the grill is still warm. The heat and water work together to make it easier to clean off the cooked on grease and debris.

With a thorough cleaning at the beginning of the season and regular maintenance during, you can ensure that your grill will run properly and your food will taste better!
