CITRA ART HOME

Altered Inks & Scary Sinks
Contest Winners!

Sincere Citra Solv thanks to the many guys and ghouls who sent their spooky submissions to us! Our office was filled with fun, Halloween-filled photos and art that really got us into the "spirit" of the holiday!
Apologies for the delay in posting results. Our offices were dark and scary from the storm outage, but on the "bright" side, it created some great mood lighting to see these incredible submissions!

One person in particular really awed us with her enthusiasm, wit and touch of eeriness: Christy RePinec. Not only did Christy send in some terrific artwork, she included extraordinary limericks and poems to accompany her work. For her ghoulish gusto, we are proud to bestow upon Christy the title of Queen of Creating Creepiness. Her haunting handiwork deserves its own gallery, so you can check out some of her chilling creativity below.

The Grand Prize of the Scary Sinks portion of the contest is awarded to the Queen, Christy RePinec. One look at this mess will send even the most fearless of us screaming with terror.

Grand Prize Scary Sink Winner: Christy RePinec

Here's an entry for the scary sinks contest. I just got a new brownie cookbook from the Fat Witch bakery in New York. With a rampant sweet tooth raging, I decide to make some goodies. I made the espresso brownies. YUM! I'll be happy to share the recipe if anyone wants it. My sweet tooth was satiated, but my sink was a disaster as you can tell from the photo.

And the sugar, coffee and chocolate rush stirred up my creative juices…soon a limerick was written. (Kindly ignore the slight poetic license I used to get in the product name. And ever the marketeer, notice I did the "product placement" thing in the photo.

So I had a burning itch
For a treat from fat witch.
Oh the brownies are a delight,
Now my sink's a scary sight,
And I need some Citra Dish!

The Grand Prize of the Altered Inks half of the contest goes to Marsha Carlton, for "Icky Micky." Marsha has managed to perfectly capture the animosity in this animation, which she said was created in her "lab...er... studio "

Icky Micky. citra-solv papers collaged onto plaster (spackle) relief on 12 x 14 board
accented with diluted acrylics... also rubbed and scrubbed
this was fun... none of my friends would believe what i'm doing back in my lab...er... studio

Christy's Spooky Gallery:

The incessant, eerie howl echoed over the graveyard, piercing the heart of
all who heard it. As the uncanny sound continued to reverberate throughout
the hills, a visage of a ghostly canine appeared in the mist guarding two
headstones. Desolate with loss, he joined them on their deadly journey to
the grave where he guards them still.and always will.

Boooooo! So you thought the Queen of Creepy was hiding in her shop lair
waiting for some innocent victims to come her way? Wishful thinking, my
pretty (said in her best wicked witch voice)! She really was stirring up
more creepiness in her altered inks cauldron! With some help from her
faithful companion below this Halloween may be the creepiest ever.here
kitty, here kitty, kitty, kitty!

Oh, this one is called: Baby Vampire Kitty Under Eyeball Moon.

baby vampire kitty

This one is called "Smiley Happy No-Face." Weird, how the Citra Solv
transferred the images of teeth from the other skull picture creating an
extra toothy grin. I added a few PhotoShop stars, twirls and hearts to make
him "happy!"

As she slowly opened her email, the frightful image was burning into
Melissa's eyeballs. Yet she could not turn away; she was paralyzed by the
horrific scene. Every cell of her body urged her to look away, but she was
trapped by the sensory experience of a terrorizing mouth that seemed ready
to.

Beware! Beware! There's evil in the air.hide your children, hide your eyes.
Don't look at this creepy CitraArt. It will haunt you, it will scare you. It
will torment your dreams.
Here's the terror-provoking scene entitled " Not Your Mummy!"

Here's an interesting entry called the "The Ghost of War." The inks
transferred an image of what looks like a baby in hat. The NatGeo was an
article about a civil war and silhouettes of gunmen border the bottom. It
looks like the baby is haunting the soldiers. Crazy, huh? Amazing what your
cleaner, clay-based paper and inks can do.

This entry is titled: Oh no, Grandma's a Ghoul! Pun intended. Yep, Citra
Solv and rubbing alcohol turned this poor peasant lady (who's probably a
Serbian "Baba in a babushka") into a ghoul! Scary stuff! But kinda cool and
perfect for this season.and contest.

Are you getting really freaked out yet?

Here are some of my scariest mummy/skull entries. Befitting a spooooooky
theme. They even scared me while I was making them.
