CITRA ART HOME

‘“We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.”

Many thanks to all who gave their time and talent to give us their gifts of art! It is truly a joy to start the day with gifts of color, light and selflessness from our entrants. Special thanks, as always, to professional artist Cathy Taylor for giving so much of her precious time and once again tackling the monumental task of judging

Congratulations to the winners, runners-up and honorable mentions in all categories!

Juror's Statement

As a working artist, I know the excitement of entering a contest, the anticipation, the thrill of being accepted and the disappointment of not being accepted....sigh.

It is important to remember that just the act of creating, of being an artist is an amazing gift. One of my favorite quotes is "An artist cannot fail; it is a success to be one." Charles Horton Cooley

I loved the privilege of enjoying all of your work. Each piece contained something wonderful.

I teach art workshops all over the US, and it constantly amazes me how each artist will take a technique and make it their own. I am often asked, "aren't you afraid people will copy your work?" Of course not! I share techniques, ideas, and encouragement. Everyone has their own voice, drawn from very personal experience and memories in their lives.

"In a large measure, becoming an artist consists of learning to accept yourself which makes your work personal and in following your own voice makes your work distinctive." ART AND FEAR Bayles and Orland

Congratulations to those artists who won an award. Congratulations to all the other artists for creating. In my workshops one of my "rules" is to enjoy the process and not worry about a product.

"Art is the only way to run away without leaving home" Twyla Tharp

Art is all about you! Enjoy, create, make art!
