About the Artist and Her Art
As a health professional, hypnotherapist, and artist, I know the healing that creativity brings to the artist and to the viewer. I use vibrant and rich colors in mixed water media, pastels and collage in my paintings with the goal of celebrating life.
My paintings have been in shows and galleries in Virginia and are in private collections in many states in the US, and internationally I have travelled extensively and that is reflected in my work. I also design jewelry and teach painting and creativity.
I use images from National Geographic magazines that have been altered using Citra-Solv. I watch how the CS does its “magic thing” on the ink. I don’t manipulate it. I love to be surprised. I combine torn up pieces fairly randomly using matte medium to adhere them to the background. Sometimes I start with one of my own paintings with a loose plan in mind and apply the images around and over it. Other times, I wait and see what the images “tell” me to do. I see all kinds of beings and things in the papers and I bring them to life with paint, ink, and watercolor crayons. It loosens me up to let my creativity flow. I am looking forward to trying more Citra-Solv techniques. I especially want to try transfers, fabric art, and jewelry. The possibilities are endless.
